Position Summary
This is a full-time on-site role for a Soil Laboratory Technician II located in Gilbert, AZ. The Soil Laboratory Technician will be responsible for executing laboratory procedures and tests, providing assistance on equipment maintenance, documenting test data, ensuring compliance with SOPs and guidelines, and performing routine laboratory maintenance.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining notebooks, inventory, and records needed for analysis and data management. Performing all soil and microbiology related testing tasks listed below. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and update accurate sample inventory and storage
- Perform dry aggregate stability and water holding capacity analysis of soils
- Perform DNA extraction from environmental samples
- Prepare solutions and microbial growth media
- Perform serial dilutions, spread plate and streak plate methods for bacterial evaluation
- Properly and safely dispose of biohazardous waste
- Maintain accurate lab records and review lab data as needed
- Use good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of previous laboratory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Soil Microbiology, Biological Science, Environmental Sciences, or related science fields is required
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Quality control and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills – Written and oral
