Easy to add and hard to ignore, PhycoTerra® Soil Amendment improves yields and soil health for short-term returns and long-term farm resilience.
YOUR SOIL HAS BILLIONS OF DORMANT SOIL MICROBES.
In a single teaspoon of healthy topsoil, there are up to 1 billion bacteria and 1 million fungi. On most farms, about 75% of those microbes are dormant. They’re not gone, but they are starving and in desperate need of a well-balanced meal.
PhycoTerra Soil Amendment feeds those native microbes a balanced, microalgae-based meal that activates them, increasing soil microbial activity by up to 33x after application. Once active, beneficial fungi and bacteria improve soil structure, cycle tied-up nutrients back to your crops and support your plants through stress, all season long.
The biology is already there. PhycoTerra puts it to work.

Apply PhycoTerra Soil Amendment at pre-plant, at-plant, or early in the season as part of your existing fertility or crop input program. It can be applied via broadcast, in-furrow or fertigation.
The recommended rate is predominantly 1 quart per acre across soil and crop types. For exact rates, please fill out a contact form.

Healthy soil helps you fulfill your crop’s maximum yield potential. While your crop’s genetics determine its ceiling, whether it actually reaches that ceiling is determined by the environment where it’s grown. Throughout a growing season, your crops face a variety of abiotic stresses (excessive heat and cold, droughts, flood, salinity) and biotic stresses (pathogens, pests, weeds), which are the major causes of crop losses.
Yes. Healthy soil increases your yields by mitigating crop stresses. Its increased water holding capacity and water infiltration helps your crops through drought and flood. An active soil microbiome mineralizes and carries vital nutrients to both the seed and the plant roots, supporting uniform emergence, stand, and your crop’s eventual vigor. Healthy soil structure also resists erosion, keeping your topsoil in the field where it can sustainably support optimized yield potential season after season.
Your soil is your most important asset, and healthy soil helps you fulfill yield potential and maximize your ROI each year. Healthy soil:
In a single teaspoon of your soil, there are 1 billion bacteria and 1 million fungi. Your field contains more microbes than there are people on planet Earth. Those microbes do critical work for your soil and your crop, but about 75% of them are dormant. Modern farming practices like tilling and monoculture reduce the carbon-rich food available to them, and starving microbes go dormant as a survival mechanism. They’re still there, but they’re not working for you. Feeding your native microbes a balanced meal activates them so they can improve your soil health and help you reach your full yield potential.
No. PhycoTerra is not a biological product because it does not contain any living organisms. It is a pasteurized, non-living formula sourced from nature. Biological products are agricultural products containing cultures of living microorganisms, such as inoculants used to optimize nitrogen-fixing in legume crops. PhycoTerra works differently: it acts as a food source that wakes up the beneficial microbes already living natively in your soil.
Your beneficial soil microbes need a high-quality, balanced diet to thrive and multiply. PhycoTerra’s unique formulation has a carbon-to-nitrogen (C:N) ratio of 7:1, making it an excellent carbon source that promotes mineralization. Many biostimulants have a much higher C:N ratio, which can lead to immobilization of soil nutrients and make them unusable to your crop. Because PhycoTerra uses microalgae as its main ingredient, it contains an ideal balance of carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins that feed a diverse range of beneficial microbes and encourage steady, prolonged activation of your soil microbiome after application.
PhycoTerra has no special storage requirements. You can store it in the field during the season, and it can withstand both heat and cold without losing efficacy. For multiple uses, seal the container properly after each use and store it in a dry, cool place. Right before application, agitate the product to mix and resuspend the formula. Make sure to read the appropriate mixing instructions for your product and packaging type.
